Mdm Mahiran Abdul Rahaman as a child with her late mother Hjh Maimunah Abdul Karim

Our Origin

Hjh Maimunah (pronounced as ‘Hajah Maimunah’), is a name familiar to many serving traditional, Kampung-styled Malay and Indonesian cuisine in Singapore. Established in the 90s, Hjh Maimunah was founded by Mdm Mahiran Abdul Rahman when she was 27. Mdm Mahiran started the business with recipes from her late mother and named the business after her. She ran the business from a humble shophouse at Jalan Pisang and eventually became a heritage icon in the Kampong Gelam area. The company has now been running for over 30 years and expanded into a chain of F&B outlets, frozen food manufacturing and catering services managed by second-generation siblings.
